War Memorial Fund Drive
After many moves over the last 20 years, Saunemin received the blessing of the City of Pontiac to bring the home back to where it belongs!! Although in much disrepair, the Village of Saunemin Board of Trustees have declared their intent to put it into a state of repair so that it may one day stand as a historic reminder of the commitment that Albert Cashier displayed as a member of the Union Army.
It is the intention of the Village of Saunemin to one day utilize the home as a 'museum' that can be viewed by the public, and will be located at a site that is within mere feet of its original location. Along with the Cashier home, the Village is also anticipating the siting of a War Memorial, paying homage to those who gave the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty.
It is hoped that the site will include the Cashier home, the War Memorial, and a display of flags from the time of Cashier to the present. Extensive landscaping will be done at the site as well.
In an effort to increase funding for the project, the Village will install a 'Outdoor Brick Walkway' leading to the entryway of the home that will have personalized bricks indicating a level of financial support for the project.

$500 - Vicksburg Colonel Level
$250 - Vicksburg Private Level
$100 - Friends of Albert Cashier Level
Commitments of any level will be sent a form that will seek 'engraving' instructions that will be used for the individual or group brick to be placed on the 'Outdoor Brick Walkway.'
